Interestingly, from a traditional Chinese medicine perspective both spring and autumn are seasons for detoxifying your body and de-cluttering your life. In spring the purpose is to cleanse the liver after the heavier richer foods eaten during the winter months. In autumn, detoxification lightens the load on the internal organs in preparation for yang warming foods and the colder, quieter, hibernating “yin” months.
Regardless of the season, the most life enhancing question you can ask yourself is “how have I contributed to my wellbeing today?” Personal wellness is a step-by-step journey. Remember the way of the Wellness Warrior is balance. When in doubt use the 80/20 rule applies. Make sure 80% of what you eat is life enhancing. The body can usually handle 20% of pure indulgence!
